Alex Jones is a photographer who is constantly searching for the absence of human presence in the already urbanized environment. He focuses on different aspects of the structures and available lighting that are found within these landscapes. He enjoys the sensation of photographing outside at night, as it allows him to observe the strong contrast of the still nighttime to that of the busy daytime and therefore the effects that humans have on their own environment.
By looking closely at compositional grids, Alex’s work is predominantly based on the formation of lines and symmetry, he believes that it is important to have complete control over the camera to map out architectural shapes and forms. Photographers such as Rut Blees Luxemburg, Dan Holdsworth and Joel Meyerowitz are the main influences to Alex Jones’s practice.
