Franco/British Artist Residency - Summer 2011

Call for Candidates

We are presently inviting submissions from British artists wishing to spend a month at Sacy in the summer of 2011. The work must be site-specific and transcend language barriers. We offer free accommodation and work space, along with an exhibition and catalogue at the end of the season. We hope to offer travel expenses from the U.K. A minimum of 5 years of professional art experience is required.

The Pati de la Llotja is a new space that is used during the festival EMERGENT-LLEIDA 2010, specifically for the Nice to Meet You series of events. It is a meeting point intended to establish exchanges and create networks and synergies between emerging artists/photographers and the curators, festivals, galleries or publishers. EMERGENT-LLEIDA Festival suggests that this is the place to make known your work within and beyond the festival.

The Sketchbook Project

Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the country.

After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.

Anyone - from anywhere in the world - can be a part of the project. To participate and have us send you a sketchbook that will go on tour, start by choosing a theme to the right.

Terry O'Neill Award 2010 closes for submissions on 22nd October.

SURUCHI DUMPAWAR (NID gr.2010) won The Tierney Fellowship! Our congratulations!

The Tierney Fellowship was created in 2003 by The Tierney Family Foundation to support emerging artists in the field of photography. The primary goal of the Fellowship is to find tomorrow's distinguished artists and leaders in the world of photography and assist them in overcoming the challenges that a photographer faces at the beginning of his or her career.

Ex-Farnham student Marius W. Hansen is featured on the Wall Paper website about his new project, Antenne Books.

Antenne Books distributes books and magazines to UK and Scandinavian retailers - focusing on works by publishers like Nieves, Dashwood Books, Seems and Hassla. And soon it will publish its own titles.

The Open West - Competition

THE OPEN WEST is an annual open competition and exhibition inviting submissions from national and international artists practising contemporary and conceptual art, inclusive of painting, installation, film, photography, print and sculpture.

The 2011 exhibition will be held in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire from 9 February to 5 March.

The 2011 exhibition will be selected by Richard Billingham, Matthew Raw, Lyn Cluer Coleman and Sarah Goodwin.
